In Genesis 1:2-3 we find that the world was created through the Word of God. He spoke and life as we know burst into existence. In Psalm 29 we see that this voice of God is powerful, so powerful that everyone in the heavenly temple cries “Glory!” when God speaks. In John 1:1 we find that In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then we see in John 1:14 that this Word, who is God, has come to dwell among men in a Person named Jesus Christ. Lastly we see all of this glorious reality linked together in 2 Cor. 4:6, when Paul says, “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ”
What does all this mean? It means that we have one hope of being changed, one hope of being transformed, one hope of being the people we were made to be – and that hope is found in the Powerful, glory filled Word of God Jesus Christ who came here to rescue us so we could live for the glory of it all!!! He is the Word of God we find all over the Word of God, it is by seeing Him, beholding Him standing forth from the Scriptire as strong and trustworthy that changes us. So men, labor to see Him, ask God to see Him on every page and in every detail.
I have a burden for you, just like I do for myself, that we get over what is popular and current and relevant, not seeking to reinvent the truth, but remember the truth that has stood for ages. Because when we get to Truth, we will not come to a higher enlightenment, or a have more centered spiritual being, when we come to the Truth we will come to a Person, the Person of Jesus Christ. Know Him, cherish Him, treasure Him, enjoy Him, trust Him, be at home with Him. I want to count Him more precious than all other things and live in such a way that shows everyone around me that He, not this world or anything this world can offer me, is my treasure and hope, He’s more precious.
“Be much in the Scriptures, and memorize the great passages! “Is not Your word like fire in my bones” says Jeremiah. Gather ‘round that fire your whole life. It is warm. It is sparkling with colors of grace. It is healing for a thousand hurts. It is light for a thousand dark nights.” (John Piper)
