Well we’re halfway through this series going over those who’ve had the largest influences on my life, and I want to take a day to recap these men.
John Piper, R.C. Sproul, Johnny Mac, Albert Mohler, Mark Dever, Ligon Duncan, Matt Chandler, Kevin DeYoung, David Platt, Chris Robins, J.V. Fesko, Benjamin Joffe, Richard Jones, and Ross Floyd.
A few things to note:
1) In this list there are 7 Baptists and 7 Presbyterians. I find this humorous that it’s an even tie, because up to this point in my life I’ve spent an even amount of time in both worlds. I am grateful for my Baptist brothers and my Presbyterian brothers, I’ve learned so much from both and will continue to do so.
2) This is not an exhaustive list at all – I have many more friends and theologians who should be on this list, but I don’t want to make a blog series 4 years long, haha! If you’re not here, and you know of your influence on me, know I love you and am deeply grateful for you.
3) We move on tomorrow to those men who’ve influenced me in large ways who are dead. There are 14 of them as well, didn’t mean to do that one! They are as follows: John Owen, Jonathan Edwards, Richard Baxter, John Bunyan, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Augustine, David Brainerd, Jim Elliot, J.R.R. Tolkien, George Whitfield, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, and C.S. Lewis.
